About this tool
Engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ reach or followers × 100. Enter the four numbers and get the rate. Use the same denominator every time so posts can be compared with each other.
FAQ
How do you calculate engagement rate?
Add up the interactions on a post (likes, comments and shares, plus saves if the platform shows them), divide by the number of people it reached or by your follower count, and multiply by 100. The calculator above does exactly that.
Should I divide by reach or by followers?
Reach, when the platform gives it to you: it measures how the people who actually saw the post responded. Divide by followers when reach is not available, or when you are comparing accounts from the outside. Either works as long as you use the same one every time.
Why is my engagement rate different in every tool?
Because tools count different things. Some include saves, clicks or video views, some divide by impressions instead of reach, and some average across posts. Check which interactions and which denominator a tool uses before comparing numbers between them.
Does a high engagement rate mean a post made money?
No. Engagement shows attention, not sales. A post can get plenty of likes and sell nothing, or get a few replies from the right people and sell a lot. Measuring which posts led to a sale needs a link from the post to your checkout.
